One of the things I love about visiting other countries is that they have wood spices I haven't worked with before.
That's this elm spoon.
It was a stunning colour log on top of a wood pile and I took it and made as many blanks I could out of it. I love all the twirls and little knots in the handle and the beautiful rich colour in the bowl.
Elm is a very magical wood to work with.
